I had moved up north to be with my family after being away from them for years. The house that I purchased had it all! That was what was suggested to me by my family as a way to heat the home since they have all found other options had failed them in the past. I was curious how they compared to other heating options so I did some research before deciding.

Air source heat pumps are heat pumps that work by absorbing the heat from outside and turning it into energy to heat the house inside. From what I understood of it all, air has energy and that’s what really causes this to work. It’s like a reverse air conditioner that is pulling air from outside to the inside, however, it’s pulling the cold air in and creating warm air. I was concerned that at some point, the air would be too cold for the heat pump to work. I learned that the heat pump is efficient in temps as low as −30 °C (−22 °F). Where I live, we don’t get that cold so I had no issues with searching for one as a solution to my home problem.

When I called around to find someone to install one, that was easy as well. A lot of places are willing to come and install one in your home. I expected getting one to be a headache, but it was one of the easiest things I have ever done in my life. The servicemen were professional and made sure that I know how to work the heat pump and how to troubleshoot some common issues that might come up from time to time. I was concerned about frost building up on the pump, but the one that I got had a auto defroster that took care of that for me.

Now we are years removed from that time and the heat pump is still going strong! I haven’t had any issues at all and would urge anyone to purchase one if they needed some sort of heater in their home. It just makes sense!
